13 years full time on our 35 ft sailboat. Built in 2005. With solar panels and davits/dink we measure 39ft. No need for anything larger.
As soon as I win the lottery, I’m getting a Hansa 410. They just started making them last year and they and they are “OMG” expensive.
If you like large cockpits, check out the Hanse 410, it’s massive with a wonderful lounge feature
I can’t wait to be part of this amazing lifestyle
Finally the face of the famous voice. Hope there will be more
Crazy
Jealous!
What a way to live life! Soon I will be joining the club.
You should produce a new TV show, called “squall chasers”. If you produce, I want a % please. There’s a strange yet magical feeling of standing on deck, trying to hold 😢a camera steady, while at any second you could hear lightning strike or get off balance and fall overboard. You folks are adrenaline junkies, and I wish I was there..
Ha, love ya buddy
This guys wife left him for someone who owns a catamaran
Nice quick trip to town
Hey that's my office but I am not there lol
Out for an excursion nice
Thanks for the clips, and thanks for putting cruising into reality unlike most other sailing channels
Thank you so much. Will start practicing until I get my boat.
Looking forward to eventually leaving the office and becoming one of your crew
I have to say that they are both very nice boats, and I agree with you that saving $100,000 just makes sense.
I enjoy the discussion of what’s being said 🩵🤍
Well the good news is that many of the big ticket expenses that were listed could be lowered heavily if you have a need to budget. The dingy and ac were two big ticket expenses totalling at around 10k according to the video. I'm sure those numbers could be lowered with a little time invested In finding a good, used deal But I'm glad he is being honest about the true expenses. Everyone else acts like you could live on 500$ per month.
Now that is the best office anyone can have. Can't wait to be out on the water.
What I wouldn't give to learn all the in and outs of the ocean life and be able to make it a life style
Thank you so much for taking your time to put this together.
The ability of a full -hulled vessel to take a full grounding (lying over on her beam ends) and then get back on her feet with the incoming tide and sail or motor away, cannot be overvalued. I don't care if it is old-shcool. (Ask me how I know) This stunt cost me a mountain of personal embarrassment but no vessel damage whatsoever. In fact, no water was shipped during this episode. (Warning, don't try this at home.)
Shit up dude, I sail 30,000 miles a year, I'm not some poser lavagabind
@@ChasingLatitudes As a sailor, sooner or later you're going to find the ocean not conveniently under your boat. This may not be your fault, but most likely it will. Apart from a bilge-keeler, a full keel vessel may soften the blow and lessen the shock. This was a surprise to me. As an inconvenient and sometimes dangerous marina vessel, you won't get an argument from me.
No sails.....
Hello for the algorithms!
Check out Garretts Adventures. Intrepid young man!
that just looks horrible... haha, j/k working on my asa 114 this weekend.. keep posting
I love your life! I've been in the new Orleans marina for a month and it's confirmed my desire to buy a boat! Thanks for your videos
The keel you use on a boat is dependent on your needs so there is no absolutely answer and this is a redundant and ridiculous video. Click bait much. Do you actually have something viable and interesting to contribute to the community?
You are very knowledgeable and I’m learning a lot from watching your videos. It’s a scary journey but you make it much easier. Thank you Captain!
Yep!
If you had the opportunity, would you buy new? I really like the oceanics But you have to pick her up brand new
No, if buy one 4 or 5 years old
Wery much projecting? Your envy is disgusting and total BS!
I think all your reels should include the type of boat and length so when I hire you in the future I will have an idea of what I want 😊
2018 40 leopard is this one sir
Awesome! What kind of boat are you on?

Nice full sails....
Get the fishing rods out and start trolling!
Have fun! This is great!
Love the way you analyse the market place and the boats. When I’m ready…Definitely going to reach out to you. Thanks for posting great vids, with common sense and entertainment. 💪🙏
Ex charter, Great advice. I have had my ex-charter Jeaunneau I-50 for 20 years, I can hardly believe I am saying that (Wha...!!)...and she is ready to go around the world today, in fact, I just got in to Trinidad from SVG last week. I recall 20 yrs ago getting SO MUCH BOAT for my money! Great Advice!
It depends on one’s lifestyle. Most cruisers have busy lifestyles which include commitments and itineraries which mean spending 3 days waiting for wind to complete their voyage when they have work on Monday is not an option, hence the engine is needed and is an alternative to the sails. Some lucky people, such as sailing Uma, can wait for that wind and do. I’d like to convert my boat to electric because I have reliable shore power and on most trips only use the engine to leave the harbour and re enter on return, no more than 30 minutes each way. But if I did convert it I’d put the engine into heavy preservation so I could convert back to sell the boat with the engine or give that option to the new owner. As for duration in electric, well it would need to be a minimum of 2 hours at 5 kts which I’d estimate as requiring 44 KWhrs. I’d require therefore an actual battery capacity of around 60 KWhrs which is the same as many cars. Charging from flat on standard shore power would take about 24 hours which is quite workable given the frequency of trips and how long we might visit a destination with shore power anyway. Add in the ability to charge from wind and solar whilst at anchor and it becomes more viable. However I need to be free of commitments and deadlines, not impossible but not easy.
Pls keep posting!
I love how entertaining you are. It makes this vid and shopping experience so much more fun. Hahahahahaha. Overall still very informative. 💪🙏
Man youre the GOAT
Just registered for free on your web site. You know what your talking about, I like that. How do I ask you some preliminary questions? Like for example (lets use Beneteau 38.1model ex-charter for instance) a) I'm in Chicago, how do I get this boat on Lake Michigan? b) What is typical boat price depreciation per year for a 2011-2019 aged boat in question? c) What kind of time do I need to allocate for the purchase through delivery? Thanks again for the great info.
Safe sailing mate Gods speed
Could watch this on repeat for days 😳 🤙🏻
You are comparing cost based on the length of the ships, completely ignoring the fact that utility-wise a catamaran is equivalent to a monohaul almost twice its length. That completely invalidate the whole analysis you are doing. Please do it again comparing two ships of comparable internal volume.
WOW!!! What a bummer your life must be... You wasted a whole RUclips video explaining how you were so far above the other much more successful Sailing Channels. ... I don't suppose that you realize that the only point you actually made abundantly clear was that you are obviously a Jealous Loser.
There’s sumn in the water at the end 👀
